Friday's Note

This is the note that is coming home today with the students.
January 4, 2007

Dear Parents,

Just a note to communicate some things that are happening in the class.

• The Blog – I hope you will find it helpful. The class is looking forward to putting their input into our site and making it their own. A problem with blogspot that needs to be communicated is the ease of going to other sites from our blog. On the top of every blog there is a “next blog” button that will randomly take you to other people’s blogs. I would like to urge caution about this button. Please do not go looking for other people’s sites with this button. Sadly, we do not know what kind of material is in these blogs that you may accidentally come across. Urge your children not to press the “next blog” button. Just go to ours and Mrs. Bojo’s. www.saintelizabeth.blogspot.com

• DC, has officially been booked. We will be traveling from Sunday, May 18th to Wednesday, May 21st. I asked many of you last year if you were tentatively planning to attend. I’d like a definite yes or no by Valentine’s Day, please, just so I can get absolute cost figures calculated. Right now it is looking to be between $425 - $475 per person. That will include the cost of meals. Our hotel is the Quality Inn Iwo Jima in Arlington, VA and you can find it on the Internet.

• Fundraising has gone very well. I will be sending home estimates of how much your child has raised so far. I do think it would be wise to do a second pop can collection in April just to boost it a bit more. More info on that to come. How is the $1 candy sale going? Many of you still have candy money out. Sam’s Club has discontinued those boxes, I’m sorry that we were not able to get any more out.

• Catholic Schools Week Mass – Sunday, January 27th at 11:00. Please plan on attending.

• The end of the 2nd marking period is FRIDAY! Please have all extra credit turned in by Friday and work hard to meet those AM and AR goals.

• Spaghetti Supper – It has been requested that our class serve at this event after school.

• Ice Skating – In celebration of Shane winning the Yule Light Poem contest we will be going ice skating. The only caveat is I need another driver because the bus is so expensive for only 13 of us. The Saginaw Ice Arena usually has open skates on Wednesdays from 12:00 – 1:45. So if any of you are available to drive on a Wednesday and you have the $500,000 insurance coverage I would really appreciate it. Let me know, the days are flexible.

Thank you for everything you do parents! Have a super weekend!

Mrs. Papesh

This is great. It's so nice to be able to find out all of this information instead of listening to an unamed student (ahem) say "I don't know when the test is" repeatedly. Thank you for putting this blog out there for us.
